Texts: “The LORD spoke to me again: “Because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah שִׁלֹחַ and rejoices over Rezin and the son of Remaliah, therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates—the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks (Isa. 8:5–7, NIV).
Theme: In an age of noise, God has called us to live a quiet life (1 Thes. 4:11).
Text: “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days [ἐπʼ ἐσχάτου τῶν ἡμερῶν] he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs” (Heb. 1:1-4).
Theme: Jesus is the best teacher on the last days, not popular opinion.
Text: “From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus.” – Galatians 6:17
Theme: We do not need to fear in these last days if we fear the Lord.
Text: “Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans12:1-2).
Theme: The voice of God transforms you when heard and heeded.
